The Vortex Diamondback is built on a durable 1" tube constructed of 6061 T6 aircraft-grade aluminum. All Vortex riflescopes are subjected to demanding factory testing under a force of 1000 G's which repeated 500 times to ensure the scope can handle anything you throw at it. Not only is the Diamondback rifle scope waterproof and fogproof, it is highly sought after due to its purging with Argon gas to eliminate internal fogging. Considering all of the features this scope provides and you'd expect to it cost quite a bit more.
